See the Person

Many people think that Everett Gospel Mission is just about food and shelter. Now, don’t get me wrong, we are about that – and it is very important, life-saving stuff. But we don’t stop there. We can never just stop there.

God created each of us as individuals, and individuals have varying needs. It’s only when you get to know a person — when you look past their worn shoes and ragged beard — that you discover what someone really needs. Sometimes it’s a shoulder to cry on or a hand to hold. Sometimes it’s a suit for a job interview, or a bus pass to get to an appointment across town. Other times, a hot meal and a night in a warm bed gives someone the strength they need to face another day.

Here at the Mission, we see the person. We see the man, woman or child. Then, we can offer them what they really need.

That’s why this isn’t just a “shelter” or a “soup kitchen.” This is a multi-faceted ministry. This is a place where God’s love is shared in a variety of ways so that people experience His love in the way that will affect them the most.

Did you know that we help former residents too? In addition to food and shelter at the mission, we also provide:

  • Food baskets for hungry families.
  • Job training through Feed Hope Kitchen.
  • Diapers and baby supplies to keep infants safe and healthy.
  • Bus passes to doctor’s appointments and job interviews.
  • Warm winter clothing and professional attire for job interviews.
  • Hot showers and
  • Dental
  • Case management and counseling services for people with mental health issues.

Do your friends know? Your colleagues? Your church group?

Will you help me get the word out so that people can see the Mission for what it is? For what you help make it? A place where people are truly seen, truly loved, and truly transformed from the inside out.
