What’s your resolution?

Every year, I try to think of one thing I can do that will not only change my own life, but change the lives of others.

At this time of year, when New Year’s resolutions are the topic of coffee dates, work lunches and friendly phone calls, I encourage my colleagues and friends to take a moment to refocus.

What would happen if, instead of making resolutions to lose weight, eat better and exercise more, we all made resolutions that honored Christ’s directives to feed the poor, love our neighbors and bring hope to people in despair?

Not only would we change our own lives in 2014, we would change the lives of our friends, our neighbors, and our entire community.

Isn’t that what the New Year is really about? Change?

So what’s on your list of New Year’s resolutions? You can add one more and check it off at the same time by making an online gift today: “Change a Life.” It might just be the best thing you do all year.
